Tea4Change

As posted here before, Mahnaz one of the 2016 Making For Change Participants is taking her campaign onto the next stage by hosting a community tea party in Cathedral Square on Friday 9th September 2016.

If you come along to the Cathedral Square you will be able to make your own ‘tea bags’ with a message attached that you can give away to someone you don’t yet know. Mahnaz will also be serving free tea and great cake (made by social enterprise www.devenishgirl.com) to encourage people to get talking and to make our community stronger.

Mahnaz was encouraged to start her campaign because of the experience of one of her friends who felt isolated after moving from Hungary to work in Birmingham.  Mahnaz says “I want to celebrate the diversity of Birmingham. I hope that my event will help bridge the gap between migrant communities and born and bred Brits and that it will help bring back the art of conversation over a nice cup of tea. “

In order to get ready for the big event Mahnaz has been working with artist Melanie Tomlinson to create a giant teapot and tea bag making kits and Jane Thakordin from the Birmingham Craftivists to create personalised invitations.  She has also been in touch with Sarah Holden one of the other Making for Change participants who has designed her a special logo for the event.

If you are in Birmingham on Friday 9th September drop in.  Details below; Friday 9th September, 1-3pm and 4-5pm Birmingham Cathedral Square, Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 2QB
